On August 29th the officer team hosted Ag Orientation and presented in every Ag class through the day. This years theme “Envision Your Future” was presented, as well as icebreakers and information on all the contests, and conferences throughout the year. We hope everyone had a good time during orientation, and we hope that you “Envision Your Future” this year with FFA!
1st FFA Social
On September 5th we held our first FFA Social of the year. Members met at lunch time in Mr. Campbell’s and Mr. Esquer’s rooms for ice cream and other activities. There were 150+ members that came to the social and made it an social. Thank you to all the members that came and participated in this activity!
1st Chapter Meeting
On Saturday, October 6th we attended the Sectional Leadership Conference and Basketball Tournament at Southwest High School. There were 68 students in attendance at the Basketball Tournament and 80 students at the Conference
On Wednesday, October 10th we took 6 teams to the Opening Ceremonies Contest at Holtville High School. One Novice Team, Four Open Teams, and One Officer Team. The Novice team took fourth place, with Garrett Otis as outstanding Sentinel, and Pedro Nunez as outstanding Vice President. The Open teams took 8th, 5th , 4th, 1st, with Jasmine Ceja as outstanding President, and Zinnia Escobar as outstanding Sentinel. The Officer team took 3rd place.
Freshman/ Sophomore Social
On Friday, October 12th, there was a lunch social for Freshmen and Sophomores. There were 89 students in attendance. Students were able to participate in multiple team building activities and have a lot of fun!
2nd Chapter Meeting
Pumpkin Carving Contest
Oct. 31st 40 students attended a pumpkin carving social at lunch. Students were awarded with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for their amazing carvings. A total of 17 teams were able to carve pumpkins and have lots of fun.
Computers & Record Book Contest
On Nov. 1st 19 students went to Calexico to compete in the Computer and Record Book Contest. In the Computers contest these are the rankings for individuals Gavin Macias-2nd, Noelle Otis-4th, and Lauren Drewry-8th. For groups Imperial received 2nd and 5th. In the Record book contest these are the rankings for Individuals Alex Alvarado-1st, Alfredo Hernandez-2nd, Russell Hueso-3rd, Nayely Islas-6th, and Jasmin Vizcarra-8th
California State Officer Visit
On Nov. 5th California State FFA Officers, Devin Griffith and Kyle Dayton came to visit Imperial FFA. They were greeted by Chapter Officers and treated to a dinner when they arrived. On Nov. 6th the State Officers came to the classes and ran workshops with all of the members. They thoroughly enjoyed their visit and enjoyed meeting and interacting with the members.
Drive Thru BBQ
On Nov. 9th Imperial FFA held a drive thru BBQ fundraiser. The BBQ was a very successful event and helped our chapter our tremendously. Thank you to everyone that assisted in the BBQ and helped it go so well.
